The Electric Cinema, Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove, London W11 2ED

The Electric Cinema is one of the oldest working cinemas in the UK, having opened in 1910 when it was one of the first buildings in the United Kingdom to be designed and purpose built specifically for showing movies. With its distinctive architecture and trademark hue, the Electric is instantly recognisable to local Ladbroke Grove residents.

The Electric regularly hosts special events, such as their ‘Not So Silent Movies’ event, which is being held on the 7th June – this is a fantastic occasion where top class musicians from across the capital perform original soundtracks to some of the world’s greatest silent films.

Local Ladbroke Road residents with small children will be interested to note that The Electric Cinema hosts special mid-week parent and baby sessions where parents can meet each other and enjoy some of the magic of the silver screen while their infants play or sleep alongside them.

There is nothing more magical than enjoying a couple of hours of escapism at the cinema, and The Electric Cinema is the perfect place to do just that.
