Cabbages & Frocks in Marylebone, London W1U
- by CityWest Residential
Many of London’s biggest and best shops can be found within or close to Marylebone, including the shopping mecca that is the world famous Oxford Street. As well as the big, high street names, the area is also home to some of the capital’s best independent shops.
Cabbages & Frocks is a weekly market held within the picturesque cobbled yard of St Marylebone parish church, just to the north of Marylebone High Street. Launched by food and fashion lover Angela Cash, the market offers an eclectic mix of organic treats and fashion retailers.
In terms of food, there is something to satisfy even the most demanding of tastes, from Argentinian steak sandwiches and Moroccan Bedouin food, through to fine cheeses and Japanese delicacies.
Fashionistas will not be disappointed, there are a whole host of retro and vintage clothing stalls, as well as items from independent, up and coming designers. If you’re willing to have a dig through the rails, you might be lucky enough to find some genuine vintage designer items at knock-down prices.
There are also stalls held by independent craftsmen, artists, and designers, making it the perfect place to pick up unique gifts, such as handmade jewellery or hand blown glass.
In addition to the weekly market, held every Saturday between 11am – 5pm, there are a range of one off markets and events held here throughout the year. The Christmas Lights Market, for example, brings together Cabbage & Frock’s usual suspects with a healthy dose of festive spirit brought by Santa’s Grotto, the switching-on of the Christmas lights and generous servings of mulled wine.
