Royal Academy Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House in Mayfair, London, W1J 0BD
- by CityWest Residential
The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition is a unique arts event, unlike any other. Remarkably, it is now in its 247th year and is officially the largest, open submission, contemporary arts show in the world and provides a wonderful opportunity to view a stimulating collection of work created by established, emerging, and unknown artists. Its earliest exhibitors included the likes of Reynolds, Constable and Turner.
With many works in the exhibition on sale, the show gives you a chance to own some original art while supporting the historic Royal Academy schools; artwork sales help us to continue the free tuition that we have offered for nearly 250 years. Over 1,100 works have been selected this year, displayed both in the galleries and halls.
Over 10,000 artists submitted works for the exhibition last year, and that figure is expected to rise again for 2015. No matter what art medium appeals to you, there will be something for you to enjoy at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. Painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture and film are all represented as part of the exhibition.
The exhibition runs until 14 September, and entrance costs £13.50 per person.
Concessions are available and under 16s go free, making this a memorable, affordable day out for families interested in art and looking for entertainment during the long summer holidays.
